FAIRY MOBILE

First i welcome this Christmas month and wish everyone for joy and happiness....It's been a long time wish for me to make a fairy mobile and achieved it recently with my lil one...this craft could be apt to celebtate the Christmas with these fairies as angels for my daughter....so i got the props for her and took couple hours to complete but the result is something adorable i feel....

let me tell the needed items first,
  • set of mobile hangers
  • pre-cut wings and leaves
  • pre-cut felt flowers
  • yarn
  • ribbon(pink color)
  • wooden beads
  • silk flowers
  • pipecleaner
  • silver string
  • glue,double-sided adhesive tapes,scissors,big needle

cut the pipe cleaners in length long(legs) and short(hands) and yarn for hair and give the fairy touch with flower skirt and butterfly wings attached....

make the butterfly with these silver strings tied over it tightly....

to make the mobile strings,
  • cut five lengths of yarn:two 50cm,two 45cm and one 30cm...thread the needle...pull the thread through the needle and leave one long and one short end...
  • after finishing the strings, it's time to add the fairies...use the needle to poke the yarn end firmly into the fairy's hair...
  • assemble the hanger....
  • cut the pink ribbon and tie it onto the hanger...
  • fasten the mobile strings to the frame....fairy mobile is ready now!
  •

hang this lovely creation and enjoy the fairies fly around in your house!!!!!!!!!

The RAFFLESIA flower mask

After a long time I tried this craft for my lil one's edu program...it was quite interesting to do this with the assistance of my daughter...the one we made is the Rafflesia flower mask...

for your information, Rafflesia arnoldii is the largest flower in the world which is found in Indonesian rain forest....the plant has no leaves, stem or roots and the only thing it has is one huge flower which weighs upto 8kg...

When i decided to make it, I just noted the original and inhaled the details present....red color, huge petals, white warts(uneven) which is huge in the petals and small in the diaphragm area which connects the petals....I planned to make it in a kid-friendly manner and finished it within one or couple hours...

The Rafflesia mask

what you will need:
two or three A4 sheet papers, red oil paper, glue, white paint, pencil, thin velvette ribbon(white color), scissors, brown color crayon

what to do:
(1) using the pencil draw the diaphragm of rafflesia onto the A4 sheet paper and make sure the inner opening fits into your lil ones face...then cut the diaphragm part and keep aside...
(2) and (3) also cut five petals by checking the size of petals to fix into the surrounding diaphragm...

(4) cut the red oil paper of the same shape and stick them onto the respective pieces on both sides....(5) and (6) stick the petals firmly on the diaphragm sheet, turn and see the half rafflesia made...

(7) paint the inner surrounding with brown color crayon to highlight the part....
(8) and (9) fold the petals slightly outward to give the fully open look...

(10) use your finger dipped in paint to mark the warts...spread the warts allover the petals(unevenly)...
(11) and (12) use the tip of finger(with slight nail and finger tip) stamp the small warts around the diaphragm and yes the flower is completed....

to tie the mask onto the face, put 3 holes and insert the velvette ribbon in the 3 holes....now the Rafflesia mask is ready...

the actual Rafflesia flower(image source

Note:
1) to make the flower mask to be more strong, make it as double layer by cutting each pieces 2 and stick one piece over the other....
2) to save time, you can even cut the oil paper pieces simultaneously by placing the paper along with A4 sheet..
3) if you want a simple Rafflesia, you can even draw the full flower onto a sheet and cut the shape and create the mask...
